To stop eating products that contain peanut butter like, cookies, crackers, cereal, candy and ice cream until further notice to whether the product may be affected or not. If someone thinks that he/she have eaten a product that contains peanut butter and feels ill are advised to see a health personnel. And other preventive measures issued by BFAD as well as to manufacturers, distributors, importers, retailers, institutions and food service establishments.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To date, despite of BFAD's strict campaign of banning peanut products, there are still some bakeries and stores who are selling a labelled banned peanut butter products in Manila. On the other hand, supermarkets failed to execute an immediate pull out of the banned peanut butter products because of the late issuance of a memorandum for the recall.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another food manufacturer, Samuya Food Manufacturing, Inc., a maker of Yummy Sweet and Creamy Peanut Spread and Ludy's Sweet and Creamy Peanut Butter products turned out to be contaminated with Salmonella. When BFAD inspected Samuya, they saw lapses in the food processing and the place itself. The floor is concrete instead of tiles, which causes dust to settle in. Some parts of the factory are no walls and cover making the products exposed to dirt and animal excrement. Right now, Samuya's operations were suspended for not complying the government's food manufacturing standards.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What is Salmonella by the way? Why the DOH and BFAD heightened the surveillance and ban if the product is positive to Salmonella? Well, Salmonella is a bacteria that causes Salmonellosis infection than can result to diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps. If you are infected with this bacteria the normal days it will last is 4-7 days but you don't have to worry that much since in some cases you can recover without undergoing medical treatment. In severe cases, a person infected probably need be hospitalized. In this situation a patient should given an immediate medical attention because the infection my spread from the intestine to the blood stream which is the cause of death. Salmonella bacteria can be found in the feces of people or animals.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I hope the pulling out of all contaminated peanut butter products will be completed in no time so that there is no single chance that people might mistakenly eat this product and become a victim of this Salmonella bacteria. This coming Saturday, March 28, 2009 is going to be "the largest demonstration of public concern about climate change ever attempted” according to the video-taped address by the Secretary-General.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;“Earth Hour is a way for the citizens of the world to send a clear message. They want action on climate change.” said Secretary-General Ban.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This ambitious idea was started on March 31, 2007 in Sydney calling every citizen to take urgent action on global warming by turning off its lights. The result was very inspiring, the Earth Hour 2007 brought togetherness among families, businesses and even Hollywood stars. On that day more that 2.2 million people in Sydney turned off their lights. This great idea to battle global warming caught the attention of the world. And as expected Earth Hour went global in 2008 with 35 countries and more than 370 cities have participated.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Canada, Fiji, USA, Italy, Israel, New Zealand, Denmark, and Philippines are among the countries who were determined to respond the alarming situation of our Mother Earth.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On Saturday March 28, 2009 at 8:30pm until 9:30pm this dramatic event that touched the hearts of millions of people will bellow again its message to the world. As I've watched the video I was struck with the strong message it want to impart in me and surprised because I didn't know that my country was participated on this tremendous effort.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Maybe I'm not really an environmentalist and I don't even have the sheer knowledge of global warming happenings but when this day comes, I may not have the access to my city's power switch but for sure I'm gonna turn off my PC for the whole day. When did our primitive ancestors learned to cook the animals they have killed from hunting? I had some good read about the history of cooking, and I learned that there is no exact period when the actual cooking was discovered, or shall I say, invented. &lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;A British primatologist in the name of Richard Wranghan, claims that it was invented 1 to 2 millions years ago, while some other researchers concluded that it was invented in the late 40,000 or 10,000 years ago.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I think it doesn't matter at all to dispute when did humans learn how to cook the food they produced. What's more important is, our ancestors invented the more preferable way of eating food instead of eating it raw and eventually discovered the art of cooking, as cooking the food prevents so many foodborne illnesses if it is eaten straight raw. In addition, it enhances the digestibility of foods when it undergoes cooking process but will lose its taste and nutrients if not cooked well.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Although cooking seems to be an advantage and favorable to our taste buds yet there are also a great disadvantages in cooking the food. When cooking vegetables and fruits that are rich in vitamins for example, the natural nutrients of the vegetables/fruits will extract into the water used in cooking, this will lower the vitamins we get from the food compared when still uncooked. Peeling the vegetables, let say potatoes, where vitamin C is mostly in the skin can considerably reduces the vitamin C content of it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In cooking we know that many nutrients are lost. To prevent this great loss of nutrients in cooking foods, it is better to minimize the length of time the vegetables/fruits are cut. Some nutrients when exposed to air as you cut a vegetable of fruit are destroyed. What makes me say this is when I was still a student every time I buy groceries for a week-long food stock, noodles are always been on the top of my grocery list. What I love about this instant food is, as the word implies, it's instant, no more hassle and effortless in preparing it. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;My mother noticed my indulgence to instant noodles and advised me to stop buying the food because too much intake of instant food is not good for the health since it has preservatives added to it and these preservatives may harmful to our body. Of course I did not oppose to what my mother have told me because she's right.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What composes instant noodles and why it is not healthy? We know that noodle is made from unleavened dough and is cooked in a boiling water. There are different varieties of noodles and this depends on the main ingredient where it is made from. Mostly, noodles are made from wheat and I believe that this fresh made noodles are healthy considering it doesn't have preservatives in it compared with instant noodles. Now, why instant noodle is not a healthy food? Instant noodles are precooked noodles combined with oil and a flavoring. It contain high levels of saturated fat and trans fat due to the frying process of the noodles during manufacturing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is generally considered as a junk food. In every single serving of instant noodle it has very high carbohydrates but low on essential elements such as fiber, vitamins and minerals. In addition, if it is served in another instant flavoring (broth) it will produce a high amounts of sodium which in extreme cases would reach up to 3,000mg/day surpassing the recommended sodium intake of just 2,400mg/day. Another health concern is the dioxin and other substances that can be obtained from the packaging and glues used to pack the food.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One of the major concerns on the health disadvantage of instant noodle is, it can produce oxidized fat and oils if it is not managed properly during the process. These are health hazard substances than can cause neurotoxins which make neurocells hypoactive.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Knowing all these health hazards of instant noodles might affect to my health I think this will not stop me from consuming it. Maybe I'll just minimize eating it. Unlike when I'm still in college it was my primary food.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Always remember too much of everything even it is good or bad is not good. It is made up of fats, proteins, carbohydrates and water and all those components that we need in our body in order to survive. Food can be consumed by eating or drinking, either for nutrition or pleasure satisfaction.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Before, our ancestors seek food through hunting alone to survive but today that method just totally changed. At present we have learned farming, ranching, gardening and fishing methods to produce food to sustain our living. Along with the knowledge of learning new techniques in acquiring food we also learned new techniques in preparing it. All over the world in every country and in every culture has its diversified way of preparing, cooking and manufacturing foods that are unique in its nature.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Foods are available everywhere and anywhere and mostly can be found in plants or animals as the main sources. There are also foods that are not from plants and animals. Some of these are found in various edible fungi, like mushrooms among others. There are roughly 2,000 plant species that are considered as healthy food. Foods that contain nutrients are mostly found in seeds of plant and are good source for our food as well as to animals. Majority of us, humans, are consuming largely seed-based foods that constitute into two categories. Edible seeds and oil seeds. Some of these edible seeds are rice, wheat, maize, lentils, beans and peas. Sunflower, rapeseed and sesame are oil seeds. In ancient Egypt times they have a recipe called hummus that is made of ground chickpeas. Another sources of plant foods are classified as fruits and vegetables.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Meat is a product taken from animals which then are process to be eaten as food. There are various meat products available today in the market that are coming from different animals. Aside from the meat of animals we can also get food from the food products they produce, like milk, eggs, honey and more.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We all know that lots of food are available everywhere and ready to be eaten but we have to be wary since not all foods are good for our health.
